When the year 2020 started I had quit my job. Since I wasn't committed to any job I decided to take a brief break before I resumed working and made a trip to the USA to visit family and tour new places. I have family in the east coast so obviously my trips to the USA will be to the east coast.
Planning a trip alone is a challenging task.First when going on a journey alone you don't have with whom to brainstorm plans. Second you are alone and don’t have a partner to share experiences with. But it is also a fun thing to plan, because once you do your ‘homework’ it gets easier. After i had done some research like finding flights , learning the map, checking car rental’s and choosing the cities I wantes to visit the plan had begun to look good.
The plan was to drive from Baltimore,Maryland to Nashville,Tennessee as in both of those cities I have family.
On february 3 I left Baltimore down towards Roanoke,Virginia and ended my day at a place which felt very out-the-way called Hillsvile in southern Virginia and about 500 km from my starting point in Baltimore. On my first day of the trip I had driven through Maryland,West Virginia( for about 15 minutes) and Virginia. Before my trip I got a recommendation to go to a museum that is about transportation called Virginia Museum of Transportation in the city of Roanoke . For lodging I went to a motel that got a good rating on Google. The ride there from Roanoke felt to me like I was making a trip along a stretch of Virginia that David Baladdaci describes in every book of his.
The next day february 4 I continued from hillsville to Atlanta Georgia. On my second day of the trip I I drove through the states of Virginia,North Carolina,South Carolina and Georgia. My special stop was at Charlotte NC where I explored the city and from there I continued to Atlanta with a very brief stop at a random gas station which is in South Carolina. When I made it to Atlanta I headed to a family which I was in contact with from israel and stayed by them for 2 nights. The next day I explored atlanta and didn’t continue the road trip.
On february 6 I woke up to a very rainy day and I continued to my final destination of Nashville. Before leaving Atlanta I made a stop at a Kroger's market and filled up on a kosher supply of food alongside an order of food my relatives in Nashville had made. That day I made a stop at some kind of national park called Rock City Gardens which is located close to the border of Georgia and Tennessee and looks over the city of Chattanooga Tennessee ;the park has a lookout which has a lookout towards 7 statesbut it’s rare taht you can actually see all the 7 states.
After the park Icontinued to Nashville and stayed there for a few days. From there I got on a flight to New York City and stayed in New York for the next a few days.
Nice Yair, seems like it was once in a life time opportunity... I wish I could do that too. The places you menotioned sounds terrific and I wish one day I will visit in the USA.

I've never read David Baladdaci. Which novels would you recommend?
I don't have a specific book of Baladdaci that I recommend. Reading one or Two of his novels is enough to get a sense of his writing.
